2025–2026 Indigenous Summer Student Program: Firm and Organization Recruitment
The Indigenous Summer Student Program (ISSP) is recruiting firms and organizations to participate in the 2025/2026 summer student recruitment cycle. The Law Society of Alberta works with law firms, organizations, and law schools across Canada to connect prospective employers with first (1L) and second year (2L) Indigenous law students.
For many years, this program has received ongoing support from law firms as well as government and other organizations resulting in employment opportunities for 1L and 2L Indigenous law students. The Law Society does not have a role in the hiring process or the employment relationship; however, we will provide ongoing support and education to participating students, firms and organizations.
We strongly encourage participating firms and organizations to interview all ISSP students who apply. The interview process helps students prepare to enter the legal world and any feedback firms and organizations can provide to ISSP students is valuable. However, there is no obligation for a firm or organization to hire an ISSP student.
Learn more about the Indigenous Summer Student Program. Firms and organizations that are interested in participating can review the criteria for this program and submit an application.
Without the ongoing support of firms and organizations, we would not be able to offer this valued program to Indigenous law students. Please submit your applications as soon as possible, and if you have questions reach out to the Program Coordinator.
