Law Society Board Welcomes New Bencher, Ryan Callioux, KC
Ryan Callioux, KC, is an Indigenous lawyer based in Edmonton, Alberta, with over 20 years of experience in family law. Called to the Alberta bar in 2002, Ryan has dedicated his career to helping families and protecting children, with a particular focus on child welfare and family violence.
In 2014, he founded Callioux Law, which offers Criminal Law, Family and Child Welfare Law and Wills and Estates legal services.
Beyond private practice, Ryan has significantly contributed to improving legal services for vulnerable Albertans. As Chair of Legal Aid Alberta (LAA) since 2020, he led the organization through a major governance and funding dispute in 2024. His leadership was instrumental in negotiating a renewed five-year agreement that preserved LAA’s independence and ensured continued access to justice for those in need.
