The Law Society of Nunavut is hosting an event for the launch of the Access to Justice Edmonton Resource Handbook.
The Resource Handbook is a tool to connect Nunavummiut to supportive resources in the Edmonton area while away from home. Similar Resource Handbooks have been created for other southern hub destinations, including Ottawa, Toronto, Montreal, Winnipeg and Yellowknife. A Nunavut Resource Handbook has also been developed to include resources available for all of Nunavut’s communities. These community-specific Resource Handbooks will be distributed within the network of organizations across the country that are assisting, or could assist, Nunavummiut travelling from the Territory to any one of the southern hubs mentioned above.
The Resource Handbook is an outcome of the LSN’s Access to Justice for Family Violence Prevention Project (2018-2022). Developed with support from the Government of Nunavut, the Resource Handbook is a community-based resource that contains easy-to-access, relevant and up-to-date information for front-line and community-level service providers who support Nunavummiut when away from home, including when dealing with situations of family or intimate-partner violence.
