NorQuest College will partner with the Canadians for a Civil society to present a Canada 150 Speaker Series on the Five Pillars of a Civil Society. Keynote speaker will be the Right Hon. Beverly McLachlin, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Canada. Join them in creating a shared vision of Canada for the next 150 years.
Lawyers from around Calgary will gather at City Hall to volunteer and provide half an hour of free legal advice to Calgarians in areas of the law. As a fundraiser, Advice-A-Thon volunteer lawyers will collect donation pledges that will be utilized to support the free legal services that are provided all year by Calgary Legal Guidance.

Sixty Edmonton lawyers will gather at Edmonton City Hall and volunteer to give a half an hour of free legal advice in all areas. In conjunction with this effort, the University of Alberta Faculty of Law is hosting Pro Bono Presentation Night 2.0Â –Â an opportunity for lawyers and law students to gather together to celebrate, reflect on, and ask questions about pro bono law. The Court of Queen’s Bench of Alberta has announced that a draft of the revised Family Practice Note 2 is available. The Court is requesting suggestions or comments regarding its structure and content. The CBA Family Section (North) is facilitating an informal meeting to provide an opportunity for all members of the family bar to provide feedback directly to Madam Justice Yungwirth regarding the draft Practice Note 2.
