Canada Post Strike – Membership Cards
With postal services across Canada being interrupted, it is delaying the delivery of Law Society of Alberta membership cards to lawyers and students-at-law. Most lawyers in Alberta should have valid membership cards, but new members and students-at-law are currently impacted.
Lawyers and students-at-law are required to present their Law Society membership cards at the courts, correctional institutions, the Law Library, etc. In the interim until postal services resume, the Law Society is asking these organizations/institutions to accept both physical and PDF versions of the membership cards. We understand that this is not the standard procedure, but it would greatly help as we all continue to navigate the impacts of the postal disruption.
If you have any questions or would like to speak to someone at the Law Society of Alberta regarding this matter, please contact Customer Service.
