Updated Course: Introduction to the Code of Conduct

September 19, 2024

The Law Society of Alberta’s Introduction to the Code of Conduct Course (the Course) is intended to help lawyers and students-at-law learn about many of the ethical Rules common to legal practice in Alberta. There is no cost to take the online Course. It has been recently updated to address Code amendments and new activities have been added to help demonstrate what the Rules look like in practice.

Alberta’s lawyers are expected to conduct themselves and their law practices in ways that are ethical and demonstrate a high level of professional responsibility. The Code of Conduct defines and clarifies the principles and standards that are applied to every lawyer in Alberta.

Before accessing the course, you will need to have a LESA.org account. This Course, along with other complimentary Law Society courses on Trust Accounting and Client Identification and Verification, are now included under the Complimentary tab in My Classroom.

We encourage lawyers to consider including any of these courses as a learning activity in your annual Continuing Professional Development plan.
