Your Home for Law Society Services & Supports
A more streamlined way to interact with the Law Society of Alberta and Alberta Lawyers Indemnity Association (ALIA) is coming in early 2027. The new Alberta Law Portal will replace the current Lawyer Portal and bring key membership, indemnity and regulatory activities together on one platform.
Using the new portal
The new Portal provides a central place for lawyers, students-at-law and firm administrators to manage their information, complete regulatory requirements and communicate with the Law Society and ALIA. Through the new Alberta Law Portal, lawyers will be able to:
- pay fees and levies;
- update membership and contact information;
- complete annual requirements;
- submit applications and service requests;
- track submissions and see when action is required; and
- send and receive secure, confidential messages from the Law Society and ALIA.
Guiding the path to practice
For students-at-law and lawyers from other jurisdictions, the new Portal will offer one place to work through admission and enrolment requirements. Lawyers and students-at-law will be able to access their accounts, complete required steps, submit information and communicate with the Law Society.
Supporting firm administrators
Firm Administrators will be able to use a self-service tool to manage firm information and payments and coordinate more easily with lawyers and the Law Society.
Assisting the public
Members of the public will also use the Alberta Law Portal to interact with the Law Society, including submitting complaints or requesting unclaimed trust money. The Portal will guide complainants through the submission process, allow them to provide supporting information and make it straightforward to track and respond to requests from the Law Society.
Getting ready for launch
More information, including training resources, tool tips and key dates, will be shared in the coming weeks and months before launch. Customer Service will continue to provide additional support.
In the meantime, lawyers and students-at-law are encouraged to ensure their contact information with the Law Society is current and to watch for upcoming communications.
