Office of Practice Advisor and Equity Ombudsperson Consolidated
The Office of the Practice Advisor and the Office of Equity Ombudsperson have been consolidated into the Office of the Practice and Equity Advisor (new Rule 31.1). There are no changes to the responsibilities, confidentiality or availability of the Practice and Equity Advisors.
The Practice and Equity Advisors address legal, ethical and practice inquiries. They mediate and arbitrate inter-lawyer disputes and are available to provide presentations on a variety of practice- and ethics-related topics.
As well, they provide support and advice to assist in addressing issues of harassment and discrimination. Confidentiality protections, relief from reporting obligations and limits on compelled evidence remain in place.
