ALIA Announces New Leader
A message from Elizabeth J. Osler, KC, CEO & Executive Director
I am pleased to announce that Anna Lerch has been appointed Director, Indemnity, effective Aug. 28, 2026. In this role, Anna will provide operational leadership for Alberta Lawyers Indemnity Association (ALIA).
Anna will report directly to me and join the Law Society’s Executive Leadership Team (ELT). I am confident she will bring thoughtful leadership, sound judgment and strong operational expertise to her work with ALIA.
For governance purposes, I will serve as President of ALIA to oversee the relationship with the ALIA Board in the coming year. In this capacity, I will work closely with Anna on ALIA board matters as she assumes leadership of the organization.
“On behalf of the ALIA Board, I am delighted to see Anna take on this important leadership role,” said Darlene Scott, KC, ALIA Board Chair. “Over the past seven years, Anna has been a valued member of ALIA’s leadership team, bringing steady judgment, deep operational knowledge and a strong commitment to ALIA’s work. She is exceptionally well positioned to provide operational leadership for ALIA, and we are very pleased that she will also be joining the Law Society’s Executive Leadership Team.”
Anna joined ALIA in 2010 as Claims Counsel after practising with a national law firm. She developed her claims expertise over several years and was promoted to Senior Claims Counsel in 2018, then to Manager, Claims in July 2019.
In 2023, Anna became Senior Manager, Operations, broadening her responsibilities to include ALIA administration, operations and data analytics, in addition to claims management. Anna has consistently demonstrated her value to ALIA and the Law Society and we look forward to having her in this important leadership role.
Anna holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature, with a minor in Latin, from the University of British Columbia, and a Juris Doctor from Osgoode Hall Law School. She was called to the Bar of Ontario in 2005 and the Bar of Alberta in 2008.
