Advance Notice: Apply to Serve on a 2027 Law Society of Alberta Committee
Starting Thursday, Oct. 8, 2026, applications for committee volunteer vacancies open and applications will be accepted until noon MST on Monday, Oct. 19, 2026. Specific details on how to submit your application will be released via eBulletin and on the Law Society website on Oct. 8.
All active, practising Alberta lawyers who reside in Alberta and are in good standing are eligible to submit an application. We encourage applications from lawyers across Alberta, with varied practice and career experience.
Committee appointments will be approved at the March 4, 2027 Bencher meeting for a one-year term, renewable up to three years.
How to Prepare
- Review the committee descriptions on the Law Society’s website and complete the following:
- Review and update your information in the Lawyer Portal.
- Prepare a CV that adheres to the following size and format requirements:

- Minimum size 12 font
- Minimum 1.1 line spacing
- PDF or Word (Docx) format
Please do not provide a cover letter.
Anticipated Committee Vacancies
- Audit and Finance (two vacancies): The Audit and Finance Committee has seven two-hour meetings per year.
- Conduct (five vacancies): The Conduct Committee meets in panels consisting of three participants once a month, typically on a Tuesday. The panel composition is based on availability of Committee members. All meetings are scheduled for two-hours; however, they may conclude sooner than the allocated time.
Although seldom, there are also occasions where availability may be requested for Special Conduct Committee Panels which occur outside of the aforementioned schedule. - Practice Review (six vacancies): The Practice Review Committee meets in panels of three approximately eight times per year. The panel meetings are typically held on the last Wednesday morning of the month and usually last an hour and a half. The panel meetings are scheduled by the Tribunal Office and the panel composition is based on availability.
