Deputy Executive Director Appointed

On behalf of the Law Society of Alberta, I am pleased to announce that Sarah Klein has accepted the role of Deputy Executive Director of the Law Society of Alberta, effective Sept. 3, 2026.
Sarah currently serves as General Counsel and will continue in that role. Aligning the Deputy Executive Director and General Counsel responsibilities under Sarah’s leadership reflects the strong connection between these functions and supports continued collaboration across the organization.
Since joining the Law Society in September 2025, Sarah has established herself as a trusted leader and advisor. She has worked closely with teams across the Law Society and Alberta Lawyers Indemnity Association to build relationships, strengthen collaboration and support shared strategic priorities. In her expanded role, Sarah will provide additional advisory support to the CEO & Executive Director while continuing to lead in her capacity as General Counsel.
Following her call to the bar in 2008, Sarah worked at the Calgary offices of two international law firms until joining the Law Society. She initially practised as a research lawyer, then spent nine years in senior national management roles focused on risk and education.
Sarah holds a BA from Queen’s University, an LLB from the University of Victoria and an LLM from the University of Toronto. She clerked at the Court of Appeal of Alberta.
