John Evans, KC was born and raised in Brooks, Alberta. He attended the University of Lethbridge for three years before earning an LLB from the University of Calgary in 1995. John articled at Stringam, where he continued as an associate lawyer, later becoming a partner and Managing Partner (2008–2022). He also served as Stringam LLP Board Chair from 2022–2024.

John’s practice focuses on high conflict litigation including estate litigation, family law disputes, and corporate shareholder disputes as well as construction law disputes. He also acts as defence and plaintiff’s counsel on professional negligence matters. He has appeared at all levels of Court in Alberta, the Court of King’s Bench in Saskatchewan, the Supreme Court of the Northwest Territories, the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Federal Court of Canada and the Federal Tax Court of Canada. He is a member of the Law Societies of Alberta, Saskatchewan and Northwest Territories.

John was awarded a King’s Counsel designation in March 2020, and in that same year was appointed by the Minister of Justice and Solicitor General to serve on the Provincial Court Nominating Committee (now the Alberta Judicial Nominating Committee). In March 2025, John was appointed to serve on the Electoral Boundaries Commission.

Outside the office, John enjoys spending time with his wife and family, volunteering for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, competitive cycling, CrossFit, and hunting upland game birds with his amazing (Braque Français pointer) hunting dog, Ozzy.
