Law Society Welcomes Two New Benchers

The Minister of Justice and Solicitor General has appointed two new public representative Law Society Board. Ali Rakka and Dr. Riad Tarrabain will join the board for a three-year term, replacing Louise Wasylenko, CPA, CMA and Glen Buick, who each served approximately 10 years in their board positions. The Law Society would like to express our deep gratitude to both Louise and Glen who served the public interest with professionalism, enthusiasm and dedication.

Ali Rakka

Ali Rakka is a Lead Admission Advisor and Community Liaison Coordinator at Columbia College. He supports more than 300 students annually in achieving their academic and career goals and oversees the entire admission process. In addition, Ali plays a crucial role in connecting the organization with its community and stakeholders. He is a recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal, Certified Career Development Professional, Workshop Facilitator, Alberta Premier’s Advisory Council member, Member of the Senate of the U of C, and a member of the Middle East Advisory Board with Calgary Police Services.

 

Dr. Riad Tarrabain

Dr. Riad Tarrabain holds both a Doctor of Chiropractic and a Medical Degree and has been a dedicated healthcare provider for more than 25 years. He serves as Director of multidisciplinary health clinics in Edmonton, Alberta where he leads a collaborative team of allied health professionals and medical specialists in delivering patient-centred care. His clinics emphasize an integrated approach to physical rehabilitation, psychological well-being, and overall patient health.

Dr. Tarrabain actively volunteers with several organizations and serves on the board of a non-profit dedicated to youth development, interfaith engagement and mental wellness.
