1. It is alleged that Tahir Chaudhary and his partner entered into an agreement with another lawyer (the “Lawyer”) whereby, in exchange for referring to the Lawyer various Legal Aid Alberta criminal files (the “Legal Aid Files”) assigned to Mr. Chaudhary or to his law partner, Mr. Chaudhary’s firm would take 50% of the legal fees paid by Legal Aid, without Mr. Chaudhary or his law partner providing any legal services whatsoever in respect of the Legal Aid Files, and that such conduct is deserving of a sanction.
2. It is alleged that Tahir Chaudhary failed to provide any supervision of the Lawyer after delegating the Legal Aid Files to him, despite the Legal Aid Files being assigned by Legal Aid to Mr. Chaudhary specifically, and that such conduct is deserving of a sanction.
