Insurance Renewal Information

To renew your insurance coverage for the upcoming policy year (July 1, 2011 to June 30, 2012), you are required to remit a levy payment on or before June 30, 2011.

Levy Amounts

Each active member must pay the insurance levy fee in the amount of $3,124 plus $156.20 GST (total of $3,280.20).

The insurance levy can be paid by two instalments or a single payment.

If you choose to pay by instalments:

  • there is a service charge of $50 plus GST
  • you will be required to remit the first instalment by June 30, 2011
  • the second instalment will be due January 3, 2012 and an invoice will be mailed to you

Post-dated cheques cannot be accepted.

The levy is payable to the Alberta Lawyers Insurance Association (making a payment).

The insurance levy is subject to a surcharge, where specified, for members with a claims paid record. A surcharge remains in effect for a period of five years. If you have questions about surcharge amounts, contact Veronica D’Souza at 403-229-4719 or 1-800-661-1694.
