CPD Plan Declarations due on or before March 15, 2011.
To comply with the Continuing Professional Development Rules, you must: 1) create and record your CPD Plan; and 2) declare to the Law Society that you have made your CPD Plan.
Step 1: Create and record your CPD Plan
By using the resources online at www.CPDAlberta.ca: The CPD Alberta website is an on-line tool tailored to assist you in assessing your CPD goals, preparing your CPD Plan and tracking your progress in implementing your CPD Plan. We recommend using the CPD Alberta site to develop your CPD profile as it is an effective and ongoing resource and tool for achieving your goals of continued competence and professional development. By using the www.CPDAlberta.ca site you also will be reminded throughout the year by LESA of upcoming events and resources that match your CPD profile.
OR
By using a format that you or your employer choose: Currently, it is not mandatory to use the CPD Alberta website to create and develop a CPD plan. It is mandatory that you make, implement and record your CPD plan, and make an annual declaration which can be done electronically at the www.CPDAlberta.ca website.
Step 2: Declare you have made a CPD plan
Use the www.CPDAlberta.ca to make your CPD Plan Declaration. You will receive a return email confirming you have declared your CPD Plan. There is a new feature for 2011. If you have used the online tools to create your CPD Plan, after you have made your online declaration, you will receive a PDF copy of your CPD Plan by return email. Please enable the cpd@lawsociety.ab.ca email address on your computer to ensure you receive your email confirmation.
If your CPD declaration is made online at CPDAlberta.ca, it is not necessary to make it again on the Member Information Update Form.
