Committees
The Benchers (Board of Directors) have established committees to assist in the work of governance, policy- and rule-setting, and self-regulation of the legal profession as a whole. Legal issues of importance and relevance are addressed by committees and recommendations put forward to the Board.
Committee service is an excellent way to get involved with the Law Society of Alberta. To apply for Committee Service, please download the 2012 application form. The deadline for applications is November 10, 2011.
Major Committees & Task Forces conduct governance work associated with the regulatory function of the Law Society of Alberta, such as conduct and appeal matters, credentialing & education requirements, finance, audit, insurance, etc.
Benchers are appointed to Other Committees and as representatives to other organizations to address issues about the legal profession at large.
